Molly Michelman is a registered dietitian. She has been on the faculty of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas’ Department of Nutrition Sciences since 2000.
Molly serves as the Research Chair for Three Square, a non-profit organization committed to eradicating hunger in Southern Nevada. She also works as the consulting dietitian for MGM/Mirage Corporation. Previously, Molly was a Health Educator for Sierra Health Services, Health Education and Wellness Department. Locally, Molly has been a consultant for Fitwize 4 Kids, Clinical Research Center of Nevada, Las Vegas and Moapa Paiute Tribe, Canyon Ranch SpaClub, and Desert Regional Center.
Projects managed by Molly involving providing fitness activities and nutrition education for adults and children in Southern Nevada (Hearts N’ Parks, and We Can! – Ways to Enhance Children’s Activity and Nutrition) were awarded the Dairy Council’s “3-A-Day of Dairy” nutrition education grants for 2004, 2005, and 2006. Her work with Hearts N’ Parks earned her the Outstanding Program award for 2004 from Nevada Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE.) Molly was given the Distinguished Teaching Award for UNLV’s Division of Health Sciences in 2004. In 2003, she received the Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year award for Southern Nevada, and served as President for the Nevada SOPHE 2002.
Molly’s educational background includes: University of Nevada Reno dietetic internship, M.S. Nutrition from The Pennsylvania State University, A.S. Sciences from Nassau Community College, and a B.A. in Theatre from Ithaca College in New York. Molly and her family are huge fans of the opportunities to be outdoors at the beautiful local parks all over the Valley, and love to go hiking in Red Rock Canyon whenever possible.
